Team Falken, manufacturer of high performance on- and off-road tires for a wide variety of vehicles, earned a third place in partnership with Team Brenthel in their Falken Tire-liveried Spec Trophy Truck in the initial running of the SCORE International Baja Sur 500. The race is a reverse of the famous Baja 500, which ran from the south of the Baja California Peninsula from Cabo San Lucas to Loreto, Mexico.
Driver Jordan Brenthel was behind the wheel of the truck and expressed both his delight at the team’s finish and equally, surprise, since “this was a last-minute race that was not on our original schedule for this year,” Jordan noted. “But after a lot of work and committed resources, we decided to go to Cabo, and obviously, the race went well for us and for our truck.”
Though the team suffered an electrical gremlin early on, which dropped them down the ranks, Jordan worked hard to get back up into position and then, according to him, “we were on a mission as we pushed our way toward second place.
“On the final stretch, a mile from the finish, another driver rolled his truck in a ditch, and we lost a position, which landed us in third,” added Jordan. “We ran a total of 424 miles and had zero flats; our WILDPEAKS were flawless as we ran over challenging territory, including demanding hill climbs and a two-foot deep-silt bed.”
“Falken is proud to partner with Team Brenthel and will support Jordan and his crew wherever they race,” noted Nick Fousekis, Falken’s Director of Motorsports and Marketing. “Each race environment is yet another real-world test lab for Falken in our goal to produce the most reliable on- and off-road performance tires.”
The next race for Team Brenthel will be SCORE’s “traditional” Baja 500 in June.
