Laval, Quebec-based tire distribution group President Tire Canada extended its roster of franchises to 162 with the recent signing of Joe Peck Enterprises in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Joe Peck officially signed on with President three weeks ago, according to President Tire General Manager Denis Monette.
The announcement follows a year of solid growth for the company.
In December, it acquired a new, 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Toronto, Ontario.
"For the past two years, we've done a huge blast into the Maritimes to solidify our position there," says Monette.
In 2003, the group plans to concentrate on signing dealers and boosting its distribution capabilities in Ontario ("That's where the population is") and in Western Canada, where it added four new franchises over the past several months.
President Tire reported $62 million (Canadian) in 2001 sales.
In addition to its own private label President brand, it sells Dayton, Eldorado, BFGoodrich, General, Kumho, Matador, Galaxy, Pirelli and Brigadier brand products.
President Tire is the 16th largest tire distribution group in North America, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.
