eBay Tire Installation Comes Via Partnership With ATD's TireBuyer.com
Matt Thomas calls eBay Motors the biggest marketplace for parts and accessories in the industry, and says it offers a ‘"holistic experience" for automotive consumers. Thus, it only makes sense for the online platform to add tire installation to its services. The company announced it would begin offering tire installation services in the U.S. on Oct. 19, 2017.
Less than two weeks later Modern Tire Dealer met up with Thomas at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. He’s the director of account management for parts and accessories for eBay Motors.
When launching the tire installation service, what wasn’t immediately clear is who was providing the installation service. eBay said installation would be available across 9,000 locations.
MTD has learned installation comes via the online tire seller eBay is partnering with – and that’s TireBuyer.com, the online site of American Tire Distributors Inc.
“They’re the first partner,” Thomas said, adding the company will look to expand the network.
Thomas said eBay benefits by reaching more consumers who previously might have been unwilling to buy tires from eBay without a delivery and installation option. “The value for eBay is access to more consumers.
“The focus for us is on the buyer.”
