Morrison wins first event of the British Drift Championship on Federal
The inaugural event in the 2010 British Drift Championship season began with a big success for Team Driftworks Federal Tyres where experienced veteran Phil Morrison was on the pole position in one of the Britain’s premier drifting series. The five-round competition is a grueling test of man and machine. It aims to represent the best in multi-class drifting throughout Britain by involving a larger international field of drivers spanning all categories. Moreover, this season marks running of BDC events on Silverstone’s legendary Stowe Circuit and Knockhill Racing Circuit for the very first time, and the back-to-back weekend at Silverstone is certainly one for drift fans to relish.
Birmingham based Team Driftworks Federal Tyres have a reputation as being extremely competitive and it has had more wins in Europe than any other team. Earlier on BDC, ‘new-comer' Phil Morrison’s Toyota-powered Nissan S15, took first place in qualifying with a score of 95 out of 100 to secure the win. After making it through to the finals during the Pro-Level competition, Phil Morrison in the Driftworks S15 ended up against Simon Perry’s R33 GTS-T, but continued to dominate as he nailed the next two runs during a twin drift battle. Some aggressive driving throughout the day had given him the advantage and the top spot of the podium.
