Goodyear Reports Sales, Income Gains During 3Q

Nov. 5, 2021

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s third quarter 2021 sales totaled $4.9 billion, up 42% from a year ago. Its operating income totaled $372 million, a $210 million increase from one year ago.

During the third quarter, the Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker's tire unit volume rose by 32% versus third quarter 2020 levels.

Increases were driven by Goodyear's acquisition of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., which was finalized in June 2021, as well as "improvements in price/mix, increased sales from other tire-related businesses and higher volume," according to company officials.

Third quarter sales in Goodyear's Americas region totaled $3 billion, a 63% jump over 3Q 2020 levels. Tire unit volume in that region increased by nearly 60%.
