The California Tire Dealers Association announced a consumer-facing online tire marketplace for its members at its latest meeting in Fresno, Calif. earlier this month.
TireTutor, a sponsor of CTDA, developed the website, which will allow consumers to locate CTDA member dealers in their area, view real-time inventory, complete a tire purchase and schedule an installation appointment with the tire dealer.
“We had really good feedback when we announced this technology,” says Marc Connerly, executive director for CTDA.
“We had one member who joined, and I think it was largely as a result of that new initiative.”
The meeting consisted of around 20 CTDA dealers/ wholesalers from the Fresno area.
“The online tire marketplace will be a game changer for CTDA and its members, providing a platform for CTDA’s independent tire dealers to compete in the online space with much larger national tire chains,” says Chris Barry, president CTDA.
The meeting was sponsored by TireTutor, RoboTire, 1-800EveryRim – OEM Wheels, Yokohama Tire Corp., USAutoForce LLC, National Tire Wholesale and American Tire Distributors Inc.
In addition to the tire marketplace announcement, meeting attendees participated in a roundtable discussion about finding and retaining quality employees, and received an update on CTDA’s advocacy efforts, including legislation and the California Energy Commission’s low-rolling resistance tire standards.
