Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. recently received the "Outstanding Recognition for Overall Performance" award from Clark Development Corp.
Yokohama was the first international company to enter the Clark Freeport Zone, a former United States military base in the Phillippines that has been developed into a commerce center. The zone is located "at the heart of growing markets in the Asia-Pacific," according to www.clark.com.ph.
Yokohama has contributed to the zone for many years in terms of investment, employment, environment-conscious management and worker safety/health.
As part of the festivities surrounding the ceremony, Phillippines President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gave a commendation certificate to Yokohama Tire Phillippines President Takayuki Hamaya.
The award program publicly recognizes companies that have "demonstrated excellent management skills, and contributed to the development of local economy." Clark Development Corp. screened more than 50 candidate companies; Yokohama was one of three companies that were recognized for overall performance.
Established in 1996, Yokohama Tire Phillippines is a subsidiary of Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. It employs approximately 1,600 workers.
