On Monday, Aug. 16, Liberty Tire Recycling is taking attendees out of the exhibit hall and into the field at the 2010 APWA International Public Works Congress & Exposition.
(The exposition will be held Aug. 15-18 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, Mass.)
The company -- along with D&H Equipment and All States Materials Group's blending crew -- will take invited attendees on a rubberized asphalt technology tour, giving them a first-hand look at a current rubberized asphalt blending project in Boston. The Monday tour will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Liberty Tire Recycling also will exhibit at the APWA show (Booth 1324).
"As municipalities across the country look for ways to trim costs, we want to demonstrate how rubberized asphalt offers value to cities and towns, because it is considerably less expensive to maintain than traditional paving material," says CEO Jeffrey Kendall, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling.
Specifically, the field tour will demonstrate how to use recycled tire rubber in thinner and more cost-effective surface treatments and hot mix overlays. Attendees also will learn about rubberized asphalt -- and how to reduce maintenance budgets -- from industry experts.
Liberty Tire Recycling estimates crumb rubber comprises 15% to 22% of the mix in rubberized asphalt; the company has the capacity to produce more than 250 million pounds of crumb rubber per year.
