Kumho Tire Co. Inc. has announced it has won the North American Green Good Design Award 2024 in the Green Transportation category.
The Green Good Design Award is an award that follows the heritage of the Good Design Award and is awarded based on eco-friendly sustainable designs. It is organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
Kumho Tire has three products selected in the transportation design category: the Majesty X Solus, Solus TA21 and Road Venture AT52.
The Majesty X Solus is made for sedans, coupes and crossover vehicles. It can be used on wet and snowy roads and offers a quiet ride by utilizing pattern noise reduction technology.
The Solus TA21 has a wide lineup from 13-inches to 18-inches to cover compact and sub-compact and mid-size cars. This product features a specific compound for all-season driving conditions.
The Road Venture AT52 is an on- and off-road tire for pickup trucks, SUVs and 4x4’s. This product has a sawtooth-shaped shoulder biter design, supported by the tread design to protect the weak point of the tire sidewall from sharp off-road terrain. It also features a five-length pitch block arrangement that ensures comfortable and quiet driving on regular roads.
“By strengthening product design capabilities, we can increase the product’s life cycle by improving wear performance and fuel efficiency, thereby reducing the number of scrap tires and contributing to preventing environmental pollution,” says Kim Young-jin, head of Kumho Tire Korea’s Research and development headquarters.
“Kumho Tire Korea is strengthening both design and performance by strengthening its eco-friendly technology as well as sustainable design capabilities.”
