Two somewhat familiar yet new Continental tires will be available in the U.S. in June. They are next generation all-season tires.
The details of the replacement tires were shared with a record 356 Continental Gold Elite and Premier dealers at their annual convention, this year held in Playa Del Carmen, Cancun, Mexico.
The True Contact Tour has the same tread pattern as the tire it replaces, the TrueContact. It also has the same wet, dry and snow traction, and performs just as quietly.
The difference? The TrueContact Tour has a 27% wear improvement over its predecessor, and features a UTQG (Uniform Tire Quality Grading) tread wear rating of 800. Continental Tire the Americas LLC is marketing it as “the ideal all-season tire.”
The tire will be available in T-, H- and V-rated sizes ranging from 15 to 19 inches, with aspect ratios anywhere from 45 to 65. The company will back the sizes with a limited mileage warranty up to 80,000 miles, depending on the speed rating.
The PureContact LS features a number of improvements over the tire it replaces, the PureContact. It has a new pattern and compound; a 10% improvement in wet traction; outside noise reduction from 74dB to 71dB; and a 23% improvement in tread wear. Dry and snow traction are similar for both tires.
The tire, which has a 700 UTQG tread wear rating, will be available in H- and V-rated sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches with aspect ratios from 40 to 60. All Pure Contact LS sizes are backed by a 70,000-mile tread wear warranty.
Both the TrueContact Tour and PureContact LS were engineered using EcoPlus Technology, which enhances grip on wet roads, and specially designed “traction grooves” that provide improved driving control on snow. They also feature Continental’s Tuned Performance Indicators and Alignment Verification System.
As part of Continental’s Total Confidence Plan, all the tire sizes in the Continental lineup are now backed by a 60-day customer satisfaction trial.
