Three new Marangoni European winter tires also will be available to dealers in Canada: the 4Winter, Meteo HP and HP SUV, and 4Ice. All four were designed at the Marangoni Group research center in Rovereto, Italy.
The 4Winter helps “city cars and small passenger cars” grip on ice and snow-covered surfaces. It will be available in 17 sizes ranging from 155/70R13 to 185/65R15.
The tire features a directional tread pattern with three longitudinal grooves and optimized sequences of side blocks.
The Meteo HP targets medium to large cars and sports cars, while the HP SUV is more specifically designed for both SUVs and crossover vehicles.
Featuring asymmetrical tread patterns (the HP SUV’s is wider), each tire has four longitudinal grooves and dense siping with variable inclination. The HP is available in 23 V-rated sizes ranging from 195/55R15 to 225/40R18; the HP SUV is available in six V-rated sizes ranging from 215/65R16 to 235/60R18.
The 4Ice is designed for use in the extreme climates of northern Europe. It has a studdable, directional tread pattern with “dovetail siping for perfect traction in all situations. The tire is available 10 sizes ranging from 175/65R14 to 215/65R16.
Marangoni developed its winter tire range using exclusive E+ technology, which makes use of environmentally-friendly compounds that are completely free of aromatic oils. They also incorporate SPE (Solid Particles Encapsulation) technology, which helps the tires grip on ice and snow, into their design.
“The benefits of (SPE) technology also remain constant throughout the normal wear of the tire,” says Marangoni.
