Goodyear says online selling meets or exceeds expectations so far

July 29, 2015

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s chairman and CEO says its e-commerce strategy has to date "met or exceeded our expectations."

During the company's July 29 conference call following the release of its second-quarter 2015 financial results, Rich Kramer said the roll-out of the online sales strategy, which began in Chicago, also revealed a few problems. As a result, Goodyear is attempting "to reduce" the problems in order to make the tire-buying process easier for the consumer.

Kramer added that more than 4,000 Goodyear retailers are signed up for the program. At the Goodyear Dealer Conference six months ago, less than 3,000 dealers, including close to 600 company-owned stores, were signed up.
