Bridgestone Corp. plans to introduce a new, environmentally friendly tire to the North American market in early 2009 that "will put a premium on rolling resistance," Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. Chairman and CEO Mark Emkes announced earlier today, Sept. 16, during The Tire Society's Meeting and Conference on Tire Science and Technology in Akron, Ohio.
The Ecopia EP100 is already available in Japan. In addition, Emkes said that Bridgestone will extend the technology used in the Ecopia to its Potenza and Turanza lines.
Commenting on Bridgestone's efforts to be more environmentally responsible, Emkes said "it's not only what we make that counts. It's also how we make it that matters. We're all working on ways to go green. Consumers demand it, the government mandates it and it's the right thing to do."
