June 5, 2023

Auburn, Maine-based VIP Tires & Service has acquired Marshfield Tire & Auto Center of Marshfield, Mass.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

"Several of the Marshfield Tire & Auto Service Center staff are remaining with VIP, making for a seamless transition for customers," say VIP officials.

“Joe Bird and Carl Waterfield, owners of Marshfield Tire, have done a great job servicing the Marshfield community for over 23 years," says John Quirk, VIP's executive chairman.

"Their service excellence was the main catalyst that attracted me to their business and ultimately lead to our acquisition."

VIP plans to hold a ribbon-cutting at the outlet, which is undergoing renovations, on June 21.

"With VIP’s Marshfield location opening to the public, the company is doubling down on its commitment to local customers and other members of the Marshfield community," according to VIP officials.

VIP’s “Oil Changes for Education” program is running for a total of six weeks, running throughJuly 15. The program offers $10 oil changes, with 100% of the proceeds going to the local school community.

VIP is also running a new tire deal, offering $50 off the purchase of any four tires through the end of August.

The dealership - which is one of the 20 largest independent tire dealerships in the United States, according to MTD research - operates more than 70 locations throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.

“Countless customers are relying on VIP for tires and service and our recent store opening in Marshfield will allow us to serve even more New Englanders,” says Tim Winkeler, president and CEO of VIP.

“From northern Maine to western Vermont and now down into southern Massachusetts, VIP’s certified automotive professionals provide superior service to our customers. I’m proud of all our VIP team members, and we welcome Marshfield Tire’s team members to the VIP family.

"One of our top priorities is to expand across the South Shore, filling the gaps in VIP’s service footprint that currently exist in places like Plymouth County," adds Winkeler. "This is another important step in executing our growth strategy.”
