TIA Launches New Right to Repair Reporting Tool

Jan. 6, 2025

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has launched a new online tool for reporting Right to Repair issues.

The “Right to Repair – Report Your Issue” form allows industry professionals to report instances where they face barriers to diagnosing or repairing vehicles, providing important data to protect independent shops right to repair.

TIA says it aims to document the real-world impacts of restrictions on business, consumers and the broader economy.

“We hear about the growing frustration from shop owners and technicians who are unable to repair vehicles due to lack of access to essential tools, codes or data,” says Dick Gust, CEO of TIA.

“This online tool will help us compile the evidence needed to advocate for a fair and transparent repair environment.”

The new form gathers information including vehicle specifics, maintenance attempt details, barriers encountered and current vehicle status.

TIA ensures that all submissions will remain confidential and no identifying personal or business information will be disclosed when case studies are presented at Capitol Hill.

“If we don’t document these challenges, it will be impossible to build the case for protecting our Right to Repair,” says Roy Littlefield IV, vice president of government affairs for TIA.

“The form allows responses to be anonymous, giving everyone in the industry the opportunity to be heard without concerns of repercussion.”

The “Right to Repair – Report Your Issue” form is now live.
