More than half of respondents to a recent MTD survey say new tariffs applied to China, Mexico and Canada are “a major concern.”
When asked, “Are you worried about new tariffs being applied to tires and other consumer products imported to the United States from Mexico, Canada and China?” 55% of respondents said, “Yes, this is a major concern.”
Approximately 31% of respondents said they are “somewhat concerned” about tariffs enacted by U.S. President Donald Trump, while 14% said, “This does not concern me.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that both Canada and Mexico have received a 30-day reprieve from the immediate application of 25% tariffs. Additional tariffs placed on China will remain. China’s government responded by announcing its own tariffs on American-made goods.
When asked by MTD, “How much of an effect would new tariffs on consumer goods, including tires, have on your business?” 55% of respondents said tariffs “would have a major impact,” while 32% said tariffs would “somewhat impact” their business. Thirteen percent of respondents told MTD that they believe tariffs “will not impact” their business.
